The Human Resilience Project

Kenya

We go where resilience is tested. Our first expeditions to Kenya and Aotearoa/New Zealand carried Explorers Club Flag #12 and a Rolex watch, recognition given only to projects pushing the limits of exploration. In every journey, we live and work alongside Indigenous and often remote communities, documenting and co-creating knowledge about how people endure—and thrive—through trauma, climate change, and conflict.

Why It Matters

The climate crisis is driving trauma and displacement worldwide. But on the frontlines, communities hold powerful tools for survival: ritual, spirituality, and collective action. We bring those strategies into global conversations on mental health, where they can shape solutions far beyond their origins.

What’s Next

We field 3–4 expeditions each year. Upcoming destinations in 2026 include:

  • Madagascar – food insecurity, cyclones, and disappearing shoreline
  • Bhutan – resilience in the Himalayas
  • Scandinavia – Sámi Arctic knowledge
  • Hawai‘i – Kānaka Maoli (Native Hawaiians) blending ancient wisdom with modern challenges

You Can Help
Your support fuels expeditions that uncover resilience strategies the world urgently needs. Back the mental health and resilience. Back the exploration. Back the future.
